Tuesday, May 7th 2019
Some unbelievable action tonight in this year’s Senior League. And with 16 games played across five divisions, things are really taking shape. Here are all the details from tonight’s games.
Senior 1 League, Round 7
We’re only two games away from the concluding stages of the top division in Dublin. And St. Vincents and Na Fianna have tonight bolstered their claims on the Senior 1 title. Vincents welcomed St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh to Marino, and done exactly what they’ve done for the past five games. A convincing 3-13 to 1-05 result sees them remain on maximum points and ahead of rivals Na Fianna on points difference.
Na Fianna themselves enjoyed their sixth consecutive victory, handing Naomh Jude a 4-11 to 0-10 defeat on Mobhi Road. Lucan Sarsfield registered their fourth win from seven games with 3-10 to 1-08 scoreline over Ballyboden St. Endas. it puts Lucan on 8 points but with a bye to come next week they’ll fall short of the leading two sides. Faughs/Celtic have finally lifted themselves off the bottom of the table, leaving Skerries Harps on their own. It’s Faughs first Senior 1 win, beating their opponents 1-08 to 0-05.
Senior 2 League, Round 6
Good Counsel sit high at the top of the Senior 2 table on maximum points with the final round to come. But that’s a bye for Counsel, and they know they can’t be caught regardless of next week’s results. Raheny were tonight’s opponents and the final score was Good Counsel 5-09 Raheny 1-06. Kilmacud Crokes remain four adrift of the league leaders despite 4-13 to 2-03 win tonight over St. Vincents B. Castleknock are in third position following their 2-13 to 0-08 win over Cuala.
Junior 2 League, Round 5
Castleknock B are now four wins from four games. They chalked up another victory tonight, this time with a 4-08 to 0-06 win over Naomh Brid B. That puts Castleknock two points ahead at the top with a spare game over the rest of the table. Cuala B and Na Fianna C played out a 2-06 a piece draw tonight leaving both sides on five league points. Commercials got their first win of the league, beating St. Vincents D by 5-05 to 4-02. And St. Finians were victorious over St. Annes on a 3-06 to 1-09 scoreline.
Junior 3 League, Round 5
Nothing has seperated Lucan Sarsfield C and Naomh Peregrine for the entire Junior 3 campaign. And tonight the only thing that seperated them was a solitary point. Lucan edged the game by 1-06 to 1-05 leaving them top of the Group 1 table, with Peregrines taking the second slot in the knockouts. In the other round game Round Towers were defeated by Ballyboden St. Endas C by 4-09 to 2-02.
Faughs/Celtic C finish the Group 2 competition on maximum points. Their 8-06 to 1-00 win over Erins Isle C saw them finish unbeaten. But we have to wait a little longer to see as Kilmacud Crokes and Setanta have a rescheduled game to come next week.
Junior 4 League, Round 5
Lucan Sarsfield D and Ballinteer St. Johns will play off next week to decide the winner of the Junior 4 league. They played each other tonight in their final game and it finished 6-08 to 2-05 in favour of Lucan. In the other final round game Na Fianna D were 3-05 to 0-03 victors over Cuala.
