The Senior 1 competition in the We Are Dublin GAA Senior Camogie League reaches it’s final round

Senior Camogie League

Tuesday, May 21st 2019

Well we’re almost there. The 2019 Senior Camogie League is almost over. But not before some huge games to close out the competitions. There’ll be outright winners and playoffs for the various competitions, starting tomorrow with a huge finish to the Senior 1 League.

Senior 1 League, Final Round

There’s no bigger game this week than the meeting of the top two sides in Senior 1 to decide this year’s league champions. They’ve avoided each other until the final round but it’s only fitting that this game will decide the outright winners. Na Fianna welcome St. Vincents to Mobhi Road, with both sides sitting on 14 points. With 6 points between them and the closest teams below them all eyes will be on this game. Whoever wins tomorrow night takes the title.

At the other end of the table Skerries Harps, Faughs/Celtic and Naomh Jude are all in danger of relegation. Faughs travel to Ballinteer St. Johns with Skerries heading to Lucan Sarsfield. Naomh Jude have an outstanding fixture against St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh that they’ll need a result from if either of the other games go against them tomorrow. Ballyboden St. Endas and Plunketts play for position tomorrow to end their league campaign.

Junior 2 League, Final Round

Castleknock B are Junior 2 champions with 10 points and two games still to play. They’ve won all five of their games to date and face Na Fianna C tomorrow night. They have a back fixture against Cuala to be played but cannot be caught. With Commercials conceding to Naomh Bríd B tomorrow, that leaves them bottom and relegated. Naomh Brid finish in second place behind Castleknock. St. Finians play Cuala B in their final game, while St. Vincents D will face St. Annes.

Junior 3 League, Semi Finals

It’s knockout time in Junior 3 and tomorrow the last four will square off in the Semi Finals. Lucan Sarsfield C finished top of Group 1 and will face Group 2 runners up Kilmacud Crokes C. In the other Semi Final, Group 2 winners Faughs Celtic C will square off against Group 1 runners up Naomh Peregrine. The winners will advance to the Junior 3 Final scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 28th.

Congratulations to the New Senior 2 and Inter 1 League Champions

Senior 2 League Champions – Good Counsel

Massive congratulations to Good Counsel for a superb league performance. The Counsel girls ended their six game run unbeaten to achieve the maximum points haul and earn themselves a slot in next year’s Senior 1 League.

From their opening round 9-10 to 1-05 win over St. Vincents B to their final round 5-09 to 1-06 victory over Raheny last week, the girls enjoyed their bye week knowing they had the top spot secured. Well done to the players and mentors on a great league campaign and best of luck in the upcoming championship.

Inter 1 League Champions – Erins Isle

Yesterday afternoon a Round 9 game in the Inter 1 League was played ahead of schedule and with a 4-17 to 0-08 victory over Ballyboden St. Endas B, Erins Isle were crowned Inter 1 Champions. Naomh Peregrine can draw level on points this Thursday should they beat Naomh Bríd, but Isle’s score difference is that big they’ve left it virtually impossible for the nearest rivals to catch them.

Isles, like Good Counsel got the maximum points and didn’t spill a result right through the competition. Along the way they helped themselves to 28 goals and 96 points. An outstanding achievement from the girls, who will look forward to Senior 2 League competition next year. Huge congratulations to all the players and mentors.
