It’s Wednesday night so that means it’s time to name the winner of the We Are Dublin GAA, Dublin Player Of The Weekend for this week.
For any of our new followers who don’t know what this is, it’s a weekly award we give to the Dublin player we believe was the standout player from the previous weekends intercounty action.
There was plenty of games to choose from with the Premier Junior, Minor A, Minor B, U16A and U16B Camogie squads and the U16 men’s footballers All in action.
But our winner this week comes from the Leinster Camogie Championship games on Sunday.
The Dublin Minor A’s recorded a comprehensive victory over Wexford to lift the Leinster Shield title and there were a large number of players up for contention for this weeks award including Alix Buckley, Jessica McClelland, Sinead Wylde, Eimear O’Leary and Kerri Finnegan to name a few.
But one player really stood out for us, not just because she finished as top scorer on the day, scored a brilliant goal and was deadly accurate from frees, but it was her overall contribution to the teams performance, tracking players and turning over numerous ball, driving at the Wexford defence and picking out teammates with clever passing.
Besides finishing with 1-08 to her name, the player in question had her hands all over many of Dublin’s other scores throughout.
For all those above reasons the deserving winner of this weeks Dublin Player Of The Weekend goes to CIARA HOLLAND.
Well done Ciara on your brilliant performance last weekend.
