The finalists for the Senior 1 Competition have been decided in the We Are Dublin GAA / Dublin Camogie Adult Club Championships
Sunday, October 13th 2019
A tonne of camogie action this morning and this afternoon across the county with some massive results in the Adult Club Championships. We have Inter 1 Camogie Champions crowned. And we now know who will contest the Senior 1 Championship Final.
Senior 1 Semi Finals
From four teams we now have only two remaining. This morning reigning champions Naomh Jude and St. Vincents prevailed to reach this year’s Senior 1 Camogie Final which will take place in two weeks time.
After losing to Ballyboden St. Endas in Round 2 of this year’s competition, Judes dusted themselves off and won four of their remaining five games, drawing one against Na Fianna. Along the way the handed St. Vincents their only defeat in the round robin competition. And after their 1-08 to 0-07 victory over Ballyboden this morning it’s the Marino side who they’ll face again. This time to retain their title.
St. Vincents are really firing on all cylinders. This morning’s 3-17 to 0-05 win over Lucan Sarsfield is the proof. Vincent’s have been relentless in their attacking throughout the competition, with Judes the only side so far to silence them.
It’s guaranteed to be a tasty clash in a fortnight’s time as these sides battle it out. Will we have new Champions? Or will the reigning champions go on to represent Dublin in Leinster and hopefully beyond.
Senior 2 Semi Finals
Then bad weather put paid to the action at Silver Park today, so Kilmacud Crokes and Good Counsel will square off next weekend to decide who will face St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh in the Senior 2 Championship Final.
Plunketts put in a huge shift this morning and picked apart their opponents Naomh Mearnog in their semi final. The 4-10 to 1-05 scoreline is evidence of how Plunketts are peaking at the right time. They’d lost to Kilmacud in Round 2 but were leading Good Counsel by 4-10 to 2-10 before the game was abandoned.
No matter who their final opponents will be, Plunketts will feel they have a great chance to secure the title and promotion to Senior 1 next year.
Inter 1 Championship Final
Castleknock were crowned Inter 1 Champions this afternoon after a 4-12 to 1-02 victory over Erins Isle. As Intermediate Champions, Castleknock will now represent Dublin in this year’s Leinster Intermediate Championship with the Quarter Finals taking place next Saturday.
At 2-08 to 1-01 by half time, Castleknock added another 2-04 and held Erins Isle to only one second half point to bag the victory. Massive Congratulations to Castleknock and the very best of luck in the provincial championship.
Inter 2 Group 5
Wins for CBC/Portobello and Lucan Sarsfield B sees the end of the round robin section in the Inter 2 competition. And That means CBC/Portobello, Crumlin, Clann na Gael and Lucan will make up the Semi Finals.
CBC/Portobello were 2-06 to 0-08 winners over Clann na Gael this morning. And with the teams finishing in 1st and 3rd in the table it means they avoid each other in the Semi Finals.
Lucan Sarsfield B will be CBC’s opponents next weekend having secured a final win over Naomh Olaf today. Clann na Gael and Crumlin will square off in the other Semi Final.
Junior 1 Semi Finals
Another grade affected by the weather today as the Semi Final game in Junior 1 between Naomh Maur and Kilmacud Crokes B was postponed. We’ll confirm when that will be replayed when the fixtures committee have a decision.
The winners of the game will be facing Whitehall Colmcille who saw off the challenge of local rivals St. Vincents C earlier today. Whitehall continued the form that saw them unbeaten in their Group 1 campaign with a 2-10 to 1-01 victory over the Marino side.
Junior 4 Semi Finals
Na Gaeil Oga and Lucan Sarsfield D will contest this year’s Junior 4 Final.
Victory for Na Gaeil Oga sees them add another win onto the clean sweep in the Group 2 competition, with Lucan also unbeaten following their Group 1 round robin series.
Ballyboden St Endas B and Cuala C were unable to play their Junior 4 Shield Semi Final game to day. That game is rescheduled for next weekend.
Good Counsel were 4-06 to 1-03 winners against Skerries Harps B today putting them into a Junior 2 Semi Final next weekend against Na Fianna C.
The game between Cuala C and Setanta was postponed due to the weather, but St. Finians and Faughs/Celtic C did go ahead with St. Finians winners by 3-04 to 1-04
