Having Sport Ireland Campus As A Training Base For All Teams Is A Huge Step Forward For Dublin Camogie
Dublin Camogie have announced that the Sport Ireland Campus in Abbotstown will be their new home from November of this year.
The county board have agreed terms with Sport Ireland to use their excellent new facilities on their campus in Abbotstown.
The facilities include an indoor training facility and outdoor GAA pitch. From November 2019 Dublin Camogie will have access to the facilities every Wednesday, Friday & Sunday and all the Dublin Development and County squads will be based in this facility between November 2019 and March 2020.
In addition Dublin Camogie have agreed terms with Sports Ireland to avail of their facilities to prepare Development and County squads in preparation for National Championships, Blitz’s etc from May 2020.
So for the foreseeable future the Sport Ireland Campus will be the official “Home” for Dublin Camogie.
It’s a huge step forward for Camogie in the Capital to finally have a base for training for all their teams instead of the constant search for facilities on a weekly basis.
Having a set ‘Home’ particularly one with excellent facilities means players and their management will know exactly where they will be from week to week and they will be training under the same conditions on a weekly basis.
That will be a big positive as Dublin Camogie strives to return to the top table of a game they lavishly dined at up to the mid 80’s at senior level.
This latest development won’t only benefit the Senior squad but all squads including the Intermediates, Minors and U16’s along with the up and coming players on the development squads.
The county board have been working tirelessly over the last year to make positive changes to put Dublin Camogie in a position to once again be a force to be reckoned within the game and challenge for the major silverware at all levels and they should be applauded for this latest development and deal with Sports Ireland.
Exciting times ahead for all involved with Dublin Camogie.
