Dublin’s Intermediate Camogie Panel get their All Ireland campaign up and running this evening
Dublin v Kilkenny
Saturday, June 22nd. 5:00pm
Parnells GAA, Coolock
The confines of Parnells GAA Club in Coolock Village has become a home from home for Dublin Camogie over the years and later today it will host the beginning of another Liberty Insurance Championship.
Last year’s Premier Junior Champions are now Intermediate Camogie stars, and they begin a new chapter today, facing Kilkenny in Round 1 of this years campaign.
New staff and new personnel will be hoping to get off to a winning start as Dave Dunning takes charge of the Inters against the cats of Kilkenny. And form goes out the window as this is indeed a new batch of players, all hoping to impress the manager and fight for their spot.
Dublin survived relegation from Division 2 in this year’s National Camogie League, and since then Dunning has done an overhaul on the panel, finding new blood to bolster a side in transition.
Kilkenny started their campaign last week, beating Cork by 1-10 to 0-11, so they will be coming to Dublin to try build on that momentum.
For Dublin, it’s the first of two home ties as they’ll entertain Kildare next weekend before hitting the road to face Cork and Westmeath. Their penultimate game will be back at home against Galway before completing the rounds in Antrim. From there, and depending on results, we hope to see them in the last four clashes taking place mid August.
