Thursday, August 18th 2022

The last of the round 1 games in this year’s Go Ahead Dublin Adult Camogie Championships will throw in tomorrow night, and the focus will be on the Junior 4, 5 and 6 competitions. Eleven games will be played out across the county to close out the first round. Let’s get you all the details.

Dublin Junior 4 Camogie Championship
Group A
Commercials v Naomh Peregrine B
Naomh Maur B v Naomh Mearog B
Group B
Faughs/Celtic C v Castleknock C
Lucan Sarsfields D v Setanta

Commercials will start their Junior 4 campaign tomorrow night against Naomh Peregrine B. After picking up the Junior 3B Shield Commercials will hope life in Junior 4 treats them well. Peregrines had a great championship run last year in Junior 4A but came up short against St. Annes in the championship decider so their goal will be to go one better and pick up the silverware this year.

In last year’s Junior 4B Championship Naomh Maur B advanced from the rounds with three wins from three, but they didn’t make it past the semi final stage, losing to Kilmacud Crokes D by a single point. Their goal will be to contest this year’s title, starting with a home tie against Naomh Mearnog B. Mearnogs were Junior 5 Champions in 2021 and start life in Junior 4.

Faughs/Celtic C picked up one win in the round robin section of Junior 4A last season, and sadly were beaten by Naomh jude C in the Shield final so they’ll want to improve. They start their campaign facing Junior 4B Champions Castleknock C.

Lucan Sarsfields D lost out on a Junior Championship title to St. Annes last season so will go again. They start the season wiht a home game against Setanta.

With the change in format Kilmacud Crokes who were in Junior 4B last year take part in Junior 5 this year. Crokes were finalists last year losing to Castleknock C in the decider. They start out tomorrow with a Round 1 fixture against Na Fianna D who were beaten Junior 5A finalists in 2021.

Junior 5 semi finalists last year Ballinteer St. Johns start their 2022 campaign with a home tie entertaining St. Vincents D tomorrow night. Vincents were in Junior 3B last season losing to Commercials in the Shield Final.

St. Brendans were crowned Junior 5B Champions last season and will be looking to add another title to their trophy cabinet tomorrow evening. They’ll face Cuala C who were Junior4B Semi Finalists in 2021 who lost out to Castleknock C for a aplace in that decider.

Fingallians B v Na Gaeil Oga
Group B
Cuala D v St. Marks
Lucan Sarsfields E v Wild Geese

Fingallians B will attempt to find their form after a disappointing 2021 championship. They failed to register a win in the round robin and were beaten Shield finalists in Junior 5B. Their opponents will be Junior 4A semi finalists Na Geail Oga tomorrow night.

Cuala D picked up last year’s Junior 5B Shield and will start a fresh tomorrow facing St. Marks in their opener. St. Marks are making a welcome return to the Adult Championships.

Lucan Sarsfields E were unlucky last season, losing the Junior 5A Shield Final to Ballyboden St. Endas D by 2-11 to 0-05. And they’ll have some stiff competition in Wild Geese who were runners up in Junior 5B. Wild Geese were strong contenders, only losing to St. Brendans in 6-04 to 3-03 Championship Final.
