We’ve a full round up from all today’s Dublin Adult Championship Camogie action with some great results
Dublin Senior 1 Camogie Championship
Championship Semi Finals
Na Fianna 0-16 (16) Naomh Jude 0-13 (13)
St. Vincents 1-10 (13) Ballyboden St. Endas 0-05 (5)
After two action packed games this morning we now have our Senior 1 Camogie Chmapionship finalists for this year’s Championship. And following a few years on the fringes Na Fianna have eliminated reigning champions Naomh Jude to book their place in the 2022 decider. Having come out of Group B on top thanks to head to head and score difference rules the ladiew from Mobhi Road found themselves in a last four clash with Judes who have been at the top of the pile or thereabouts for the last number of years. Judes couldn’t overcome St. Vincents in Group A and an opening round draw against Lucan meant they’d settle for runner up. And this morning when it came down to it Na Fianna played the better game taking the chances they needed to win on a 0-16 to 0-13 scoreline.
They’ll be facing St. Vincents who are no stranger to a Senior 1 Championship final. The 2020 Champions lost out to Judes last year but have rebounded and turned on the style once again this season. They secured three wins from three round games to advance to this morning’s clash with Ballyboden St. Endas. Boden booked their place with wins over Na Fianna and Kilmacud Crokes, having been beaten by Castleknock in the opening round. Sadly for them, they didn’t have the firepower to counter Vincents this morning, with the Marino side running out 1-10 to 0-05 winners.
Shield Semi Finals
Castleknock 1-11 (14) St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh 2-15 (21)
Lucan Sarsfields 4-17 (29) Kilmacud Crokes 4-13 (25) AET
Dublin Senior 2 Camogie Championship
Championship Semi Finals
Balinteer St. Johns 4-12 (24) Skerries Harps 2-08 (14)
Naomh Mearnog 3-06 (15) Cuala 1-14 (17)
Ballinteer St. Johns and Cuala have successfully advanced to contest this year’s Senior 2 Camogie Championship Final. Ballinteer continued their unbeaten run from Group A after beating Cuala Good Counsel and Faughs/Celtic when facing Skerries Harps this morning. Skerries were runners up in Group B with two wins from three, beating Erins Isle and Na Fianna B along the way. But there was a 10 point winning margin today as Ballinteer came out on top.
In a close affair in the second semi final Cuala shaded a victory over last year’s beaten finalists Naomh Mearnog. Mearnogs were unbeaten upt to this morning finishing winners of Group B ahead of Skerries. Cuala lost to Ballinteer in Group A and drew to Faughs/Celtic in Round 1 on 3-13 a piece. But they’ve rallied today to beat the Group B winners on a 1-14 to 3-06 scoreline to set up an exciting decider with Ballinteer.
Shield Semi Finals
Erins Isle 4-09 (21) Faughs/Celtic 0-08 (8)
Good Counsel v Na Fianna B (Conceded by Na Fianna)
Dublin Inter 1 Camogie Championship
Championship Semi Finals
Naomh Peregrine 5-12 (27) Ballyboden St. Endas B 0-01 (1)
St. Vincents B 1-03 (6) Whitehall Colmcille 5-11 (26)
Naomh Peregrine have powered their way through to this year’s Inter 1 Camogie Championship Final with an impressive 5-12 to 0-01 victory over Ballyboden St. Endas B in the first of today’s Semi Finals. This result combined with three comprehensive results in the rounds must surely see them very confident ahead of the decider. Ballyoden came into today’s last four clash as runners up in Group A behind St. Vincents B with wins over Naomh Fionnbarra and Naomh Brid. But Peregrines proved too strong in this contest and ran out comfortable winners.
Whitehall Colmcille put in an incredible shift today seeing off Group A winners St. Vincents B on a 20 point winning margin by 5-11 to 1-03. Colmcilles were Group B runners up behind Peregrines with Vincents comfortable winners of Group A. Today however it was Whitehall who brough their A game netting 5 goals and completely outscoring Vincents to secure a final berth.
Shield Semi Finals
Naomh Brid 4-13 (25) Naomh Padraig 0-01 (1)
Raheny 0-11 (11) Naomh Fionnbarra 3-08 (17)
Dublin Inter 2 Camogie Championship
Championship Semi Finals
Lucan Sarsfields B 1-13 (16) Naomh Olaf 2-11 (17)
St. Vincents C 7-08 (29) Naomh Maur 2-13 (19)
Things couldn’t have been tighter in the first of today’s Inter 2 Camogie Championship Semi Final between Lucan Sarsfields B and Naomh Olaf. And with everything at stake it was Group B runners up Olafs who shaded a one point win over Group A winners Lucan Sarsfields B on a 2-11 to 1-13 scoreline. Olafs finished behind St. Vincents C in their group losing to Vincents but beating Ballinteer B and Kilmacud Crokes B to advance. Lucan Sarsfields B were three for three ahead of today’s game and would have been confident. But Olafs did enough to get over the line and stay in the hunt for the Inter 2 title.
A 10 point win for St. Vincents C over Naomh Maur in the second of today’s Inter 2 Championship Semi Finals sees them through to the decider. The Marino side continue to remain unbeaten with one game to go, which of course is the big one. Naomh Maur will be disappointed after qualifying as runners up behind Lucan in Group A, but they should be pleased with their progress in the grade.
Shield Semi Finals
Castleknock B 4-12 (24) Kilmacud Crokes B 3-06 (15)
Ballinteer St. Johns B 1-07 (10) CBC/Portobello 4-07 (19)
Dublin Junior 2 Camogie Championship Final
Good Counsel 0-07 Ballyboden St. Endas C 0-06
In a very low scoring and tight Junior 2 Championship Final it was Good Counsel who prevailed to secure the Championship Crown on a 0-07 to 0-06 scoreline over Ballyboden St. Endas C. Both sides qualified from Group B, the smaller of the 2 groups with Good Counsel winning both their games. And Ballyboden’s only win came via a walkover from St. Oliver PLunkett Eoghan Ruadh B. They went on to shade a one point victory over Whitehall Colmcille B in their Semi final, with Counsel 3-14 to 2-04 victors over Round Towers. The sides had already met in the opening round with Good Counsel again winning by the minimum on 1-08 to 1-09. Today was as tight but COngratulations to Good Counsel, the 2022 Dublin Junior 2 Camogie Champions.
Dublin Junior 3 Camogie Championship Final
St. Annes 2-08 Cuala B 0-08
Congratulations to St. Annes who were crowned Junior 3 Camogie Champions this afternoon, beating Cuala B by 2-08 to 0-08. Goals were crucial in the game and proved the difference between the sides with Annes hitting the net twice. And its something that worked in Annes favour throughout a championship run that saw them register 27 goals in the rounds before raising 2 green flags today. Cuala and Annes could only be seperated on head to head in teh Group B table this year with Annes winning their round game by 4-11 to 1-13. In the semis Annes saw off Kilmacud Crokes C by 4-05 to 0-05 and Cuala were 4-14 to 1-02 winners over Lucan Sarsfields C. But today belongs to St. Annes who are now Junior 3 Champions.
Dublin Junior 5 Camogie Championship Final
Cuala C 1-13 (16) St. Brendans 6-07 (25)
St. Brendans got revenge on Cuala C in the Junior 5 Championship, and this time it’s for the silverware as Brendans are crowned champions. The sides met in the opening round in Group B with Cuala winning by 2-05 to 0-01. Brendans however still managed to qualify for the semi finals with wins over Ballinteer St. Johns C and St. Vincents D. They went on to put up a massive score in their 10-10 to 0-06 victory over Kilmacud Crokes D. Cuala were unbeaten in the rounds and saw off Thomas Davis B by 40-9 to 3-02 in their semi final. When it came down to it this morning Brendans forepower in front of goal was the difference and despite being narrowly outscored those goals were the difference giving them a 9 point victory. Massive congratulation to St. Brendans on the Junior 5 Championship victory.
