Dublin Senior Camogie Team Named For League Game Against Waterford

Littlewoods Ireland Camogie Leagues Division 1, Group 2

Waterford v Dublin

Sunday February 18th

Venue: Carriganore-WIT

Throw-In: 2pm

Referee: Owen Elliott

David Herity has announced his Dublin Senior camogie starting 15 for this Sunday’s Littlewoods Ireland Camogie Leagues Division 1 clash with Waterford in Carriganore-WIT.

It may still be only February but this weekends game is all ready the fourth round of the competition and for teams with ambitions of making the semi finals every league point is vital.

It’s been a mixed bag for Dublin so far in this seasons campaign, they drew there opening game with Limerick, suffered a heavy defeat against Kilkenny and secured a hard fought win against Meath the last day out.

Kilkenny lead the way in the group and top the table on nine points, but Dublin, Limerick, Waterford and Clare are all tied on four points heading into this weekends round of matches and second place in the group is very much up for grabs for all the teams.

If Kilkenny beat Limerick and Dublin can record a win over their hosts Waterford then David Herity’s side could occupy that second place in the group with two rounds of games to go.

There are number of personnel and positional changes to the side that faced Meath the last day out. Sile Nic Coitir returns between the sticks, Martha O’Donoghue comes in to the number 7 jersey in place of Leah Butler.

Miriam Twomey comes back in the midfield engine room having missed the Meath game through injury. That’s sees Siobhan Kehoe who played in midfield in Twomey’s absence the last day moves to the full forward line with Emma Flanagan dropping to the bench.

The other change in the Dublin attack sees Doireann Mullany replace Ali Twomey. The bench is also strengthened for this weekends game as two of the walking wounded return in the shape of Alison Maguire and Laura Twomey who suffered a dreaded cruciate knee injury at the start of last season.

A win for Dublin is vital on Sunday if they are to have a chance of reaching the league semi-finals. It won’t be an easy game against a good Waterford side. The two teams met in last year league and it was the Déise who came out on top by 0-11 to 0-07.

A repeat of that scoreline on Sunday will all but end Dublin’s League title aspirations.
