The Dublin Premier Junior Camogie Squad continued their build up to the 2018 season with an emphatic victory in the annual Premier Dubs Stars challenge game which took place in Parnells GAA club on Wednesday afternoon.

The weather may have been baltic but Dublin were red hot in front of goal as they hit seven of the best, Cuala’s Sinead Wylde was the star of the game blasting four to the back of the net as she top scored with an impressive 4-07 which earned Sinead the Player Of The Match Award.

The opening eight minutes were very evenly matched with both sides registering a point a piece, Aoife Dillion for Dublin and Hannah O’Dea for the Dubs Stars.

But Dublin took control of proceedings over the next ten minutes scoring 2-03 to just a solidarity point in return. The Dublin goals came from Sinead Wylde in the tenth minute with her first of the game and Nadine Murphy added the second in the 13th minute.

The Dubs Stars though launched a comeback and two goals from Kerrie Finnegan in the 18th and 21st minute brought them back into the game.

But they were stopped in their tracks just a minute later when Sinead Wylde again found the back of the net. And Dublin followed that up with three points from the impressive Wylde and one from Nadine Murphy.

The Dubs Stars could only manage a point from Kim Hickey in reply and Dublin went into the break nine points in front with the scoreline 3-09 to 2-03 in their favour.

Dublin all but finished the game as a contest three minutes into the second half when Aishling Browne scored the girls in blue fourth goal of the game.

Aoife Dooley replied with a point for the Dubs Stars a minute later, but points from Wylde and Murphy were followed with a third goal for Sinead Wylde and the writing was on the wall for a Dublin victory.

The Dubs Stars team in fairness to them battled on, Aoife Kavanagh and Sarah Ryan reduced the deficit, but they just couldn’t contain the running passing and interplay of Dublin and were blitzed in a five minute spell by 2-01.

Sinead Wylde grabbed her fourth goal and seventh point of the game and Nadine Murphy capped off a fine display with her second goal as she took her personal tally for the game to 2-05.
