Dublin Minor A Camogie Team Named For Opening Championship Fixture Against Cork

All Ireland Minor A Camogie Championship, Group 1

Dublin v Cork

Sunday February 18th

Venue: Parnells GAA, Coolock

Throw-In: 2.30pm

Referee: John McDonagh

The Dublin Minor Camogie management have named their first team of the 2018 season for their opening group game against Cork in the All Ireland championship.

Dublin have been grouped with Wexford, Kilkenny, Galway and of course their opponents at the weekend Cork.

It’s the second year in a row that the girls in blue face the rebelettes in the opening round of the championship. Dublin will be looking to avenge last year’s defeat in Mallow with Cork coming out on top that day by 2-09 to 0-06.

The Dubs were disappointed to only reach the semi finals of last year’s championship and will be determined to go all the way this season.

There is huge excitement this year surrounding what is an extremely talented Dublin minor squad.

Joint Captain Sinead Wylde is certainly one to watch out for, the Cuala Player is a combative and highly skilled hurler and showed how good a player she is with some fine displays last season for the Dublin Premier Junior side on route to the All Ireland Final.

The Minors have a really good defensive unit that won’t cough up to many easy scoring opportunities to opponents. Niamh Gannon and Aoife Mahon are two mobile and athletic midfielders who are excellent ball winners around the middle third.

Dublin’s front six of Sinead Wylde, Laura Quinn, Hollyn Kennedy, Chloe Mullen, Jessie McClelland and Alix Buckley are as dangerous as they come and if they get enough ball in the opposition half they will rack up some serious scoring returns.

Sunday though at 2.30pm in Parnells GAA in Coolock is where Dublin will have to turn their undeniable talent into a match winning performance against Cork and get their championship campaign off to the perfect start.
