A massive day of action comes to an end as all six Dublin Minor Camogie Champions crowned across two venues
Dublin Minor Championship Finals
Castleknock 1-09 Balyboden St. Endas 2-05
A great end to 2021 for Castleknock with a narrow one point win over Ballyboden St. Endas today in the Division 1 decider of the Dublin Minor Camogie Championship.
Both sides qualified from Group 1 in the top division, with Ballyboden taking the upper hand, beating Castlknock in their opening round by 2-12 to 1-14. Boden went three for three, handing Castleknock their onyl defeat.
The semi finals threw up the parings of Boden and Na Fianna, and Castleknock against Lucan Sarsfield. Ballyboden saw off Na Fianna on a massive 7-18 to 2-04 scoreline. Castleknock were 2 point winners over Lucan by 2-11 to 2-09.
Congratualtions to Castleknock on their championship victory today.
Cuala 1-07 Naomh Brid 2-02
2 points seperated Cuala and Naomh Brid at full time in today’s Division 2 Minor Camogie decider with Cuala finishing 1-07 to 2-02 victors.
Cuala fell to Naomh Brid in the final round of the Group 1 competition. And obviously had done their homework on their opponents following that defeat. It was the onyl defeat for the Dalkey side beating Naomh Mearnong in the opening round and Raheny in Round 2.
The faced Fingallians in their semi final securing a 2-07 to 2-05 victory to advance to today’s final. And they overcame Naomh Brid to lift the Division 2 Championship.
Faughs/Celtic 2-06 St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh 3-05
St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh have been crowned Division 3 Minor Champions after their 3-05 to 2-06 win in the Division decider.
It saw SOPER go unbeaten in the competions after three round tobin wins over Good Counsel, Skerries Harps and Naomh Olaf. That saw them top Group 2 setting up a semi final clash with Group 1 runners up Crumlin. And in a 10 goal thriller Plunketts overcame Crumlin by 5-16 to 5-07.
Faughs/Celtic topped Group 1 and faced Good Counsel in their last 4 clash. A 4-07 to 2-08 win saw Faughs through, but they fell short by 2 points to eventual Champions Plunketts.
Lucan Sarsfields 0-01 Na Fianna 3-00
A win for the Minors from Mobhi Road today as Na Fianna secured a 3-00 to 0-01 victory over Lucan Sarsfield in the Division 4 competition.
Runners up to Lucan in the Group 1 table, Na Fianna recovered from a Round 1 defeat to Lucan and pushed on. Beating St. Finians and Kilmacud Crokes B along the way they set their sites on St. Annes in their last four clash. Six goals netted by Na Fianna in that 6-00 to 1-05 result.
And today they added another 3 goals, keeping Lucan pinned back to a solitary point in a 3-00 to 0-01 final score, with Na Fianna celebrating this evening.
Clontarf 4-04 Cuala 0-03
The girls from Clontarf put in a massive shift today, beating Cuala in the Division 5 Minor decider. And it was their second victory over Cuala following their 6-08 to 3-01 win in Round 2.
Clontarf won both their Round Robin games over Thomas Davis and Cuala, with a bye in Round 3. That set up a semi final meeting over Naomh Mearnog B. An impressive 7-13 to 1-02 scoreline saw Clontarf through to today’s decider over Cuala.
Cuala scored a 2 point win over Thomas Davis after their defeat to Clontarf to set up a semi final clash againt Castleknock B. The Dalkey side scored a 3-07 to 3-04 win to advance to today’s final.
In an impressive performance earlier Clontarf racked up 4 goals and 4 points to beat Cuala and secure the Division 5 title.
Naomh Brid B 2-02 Erins Isle 3-11
Erins Isle recorded a 12 point victory in the Division 6 final today, beating Naomh Brid B by 3-1 to 2-02, ending a great season for the Finglas side. In the three group competition, Isles had come through winners of Group 2 beating Na Fianna C and Faughs/Celtic B in theor round games. They topped that with an extra time 1-18 to 3-06 win over Group 1 winners Kilmacud Crokes in the semi finals setting up today’s decider. And Isles were just too good for Naomh Brid B.
