Dublin  2-27

Premier Dub Stars  2-06

Parnells GAA club was the venue yesterday for the annual Camogie Dub Stars challenge games with the Dub Stars selections facing the Dublin Intermediate and Senior sides.

First up was the Premier Dub Stars match and it was the Dublin Intermediate sides experience and class with a host of players from their All Ireland winning side that shone through and claimed the bragging honours at the end of an entertaining game.

The action flowed from one end of the pitch to the other in the opening minutes with both sides exchanging a pair of points each, two from Aoife Whelan for Dublin and Siobhan Kehoe and Sadbh Duffy for the Dub Stars.

Dublin though grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and hit seven unanswered points all bar one of them coming from open play.

The scores coming from Aoife Whelan with her third point of the half, a pair of points from Megan Thomas and Laura Walsh and one each from Emma Johnston and Shauna McBride.

The Dubs Stars got right back into the game thanks to an excellent goal from Sadbh Duffy and that was quickly followed with a point from Player of the Match Clara O’Sullivan.

But Dublin finished the half stronger and out scored the Dub Stars 0-06 to 0-01, the Dublin points coming from Emma Johnston with three, Julia McDonald, Shauna McBride, Megan Thomas and Ciara Murphy for the Dub Stars.

At the break Dublin held a commanding eight point lead with the score 0-15 to 1-04.

Dublin extended their lead to 15 points with a scoring blitz inside the opening five minutes of the restart which yielded 1-04.

Points from Megan Thomas and Aoife Whelan was followed with a cracking goal from Laura Walsh and a converted free from Emma Johnstone and Megan Thomas with her sixth point of the game.

The Dub Stars needed something to stem the flow of scores and Jasmine Draper provided it with a stunning goal.

But Dublin were in no mood to facilitate a comeback and blasted another 1-07 without reply.

Aoife Whelan with a brace and a point apiece from Laura Walsh, Emma Johnston, Gaby Couch, Julia McDonald and Elyse Murphy and with five minutes left Megan Thomas rounded off a good move by blasting the ball to the net.

In fairness to the Dub Stars they battled till the end and grabbed the final two scores of the game with points from Clara O’Sullivan and Jasmine Draper.
