The 2017 Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Camogie Championships draws were made this evening.
Dublin’s Senior Camogie squad have been given a tough draw, they have been drawn in Group 1 alongside reigning All-Ireland Champions Kilkenny, it will see new Dublin manager David Herity who is a former five time All Ireland winning goalkeeper with the Cats, put his wits against his native county.
Also in Dublin’s group are Galway, Waterford and Clare, in what will be a really competitive group with all teams capable of taking points of each other and will be a real baptism of fire for the new Dublin Senior manager.
Dublin will open their championship campaign with a home tie against Clare and will earmark this game as a must win game if they are to have a chance of reaching the knockout stages. That game will take place on Saturday the 10th of June with the throw-in time and venue to be decided at a later date.
Defeated All-Ireland finalists Cork will face Tipperary in the opening round in Group 2 that sees Limerick, Offaly and Wexford complete the line-up.
Dublin’s Premier Junior Camogie squad have been drawn in Group 1 of the Premier Junior All Ireland Championship. They are joined in the group by Offaly, Westmeath, Waterford and Wicklow in what will be another highly competitive group.
Dublin will get their Championship up and running with a tough away fixture against Waterford on the weekend of July 1st with the venue and throw-in time to be announced.
Dublin manager Shane Plowman in his second year in charge will want a winning start to the campaign, as a loss in game one will immediately put his young squad under pressure for the rest of the group games.
The other group in the Premier Junior All Ireland Championship includes this years All Ireland runners up Armagh, Clare, Kerry and Roscommon.
The Intermediate Championship which Kilkenny also won in 2016, sees them drawn in Group 1 and facing Wexford in the opening round in a group that also contains Antrim, Derry, Kildare and Tipperary.
In Group 2 runners-up Cork will face Galway in the opening round, whilst the 2016 Premier Junior All-Ireland Champions Carlow will face Down in their first match at Intermediate level. Laois and Meath complete the line-up for Group 2
