Intermediate Club All Ireland Championship Semi-Final
Castleisland Desmonds (Kerry) v Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin)
Sunday November 16th, 1pm
Venue: Castleisland, Co Kerry
Referee: Keith Delahunty (Tipperary)
A huge weekend ahead lies in store for the Ladies of Kilmacud Crokes as they travel the long distance to Kerry to take on Castleisland Desmonds in the semi-final of the All Ireland Intermediate club championship.
Kilmacud Crokes have shown tremendous form throughout their County and Provincial championship run however there is no doubt that Sunday’s opponents will provide the Stillorgan club with their greatest challenge to date.
Castleisland Desmonds are a formidable outfit displaying great character in their 2-14 to 2-06 quarter final away win over Dunedin Connolly’s of Edinburgh. County star Lorraine Scanlon alongside Leanne Mangan where instrumental in securing the win for the Castleisland club as Dunedin Connolly’s proved to be tricky opponents for the Kerry champions to overcome.
Apart from Scanlon and Mangan Kilmacud Crokes will also have to try to contain the influences of Cait Lynch, Aoife Lyons and Aisling Leonard this talented trio are regulars in the green and gold of Kerry while Lynch was a recipient of All Star award back in 2012.
Eabha Rutledge, Lauren Magee along with football vetern and team captain Anne Marie McBarron have been in top form this season for Crokes while Aisling Whitely, Ciara Regan and Michelle Daveron have also enjoyed notable displays in the purple and gold.
There is no question that Tommy Doran’s side are a talented, committed and driven group of players who have the potential to secure a place in the All Ireland club final which would be a historic achievement for the South Dublin club.
All that is standing in their way is 60 minutes of football and Castleisland Desmonds.
Everyone in Dublin LGFA and We Are Dublin would like to wish Kilmacud Crokes all the very best for Sunday’s semi-final as they continue to fly the flag high for the capital.
