Dublin’s U16 Ladies Football Squad Qualify For All Ireland Final.

Final Score in the All Ireland U16A Championship Semi Final between Dublin and Galway in Moate,Co.Westmeath and Dublin have qualified for the All Ireland Final after beating Galway on a scoreline of:

Dublin 6-12 Galway 4-13.

Dublin’s U16 Ladies footballers have qualified for this years All Ireland Final after a titanic battle today against Galway in Moate this afternoon.

Dublin started the game very brightly and plundered two fine goals early on to take the lead and held on to that lead going in at the break.

Galway got off to a great start in the second half when they got a goal in the opening minute to reduce Dublin’s lead to two points. Four minutes later Dublin replied with a goal of their own to stretch the lead again. Dublin then added two further points before Galway scored their third goal of the game.

Galway then had a spell of dominance and scored a string of fine points to put the bare minimum between the sides with eight minutes left in the contest. With three minutes left on the clock Dublin were leading by two,but Galway refused to give up and struck goal number four to go a point up with time running out.

But this Dublin team are known for their battling qualities and in the first minute of injury time scored the equalizing score to bring the game to extra-time.

Dublin got back on top at the start of extra-time and six minutes in got their sixth goal of this pulsating and exciting semi-final to push themselves back in front. They pushed on and at half-time in extra-time were leading by five. It was a lead the would not relinquish as both sides managed just two points a piece in the second half of extra time.

So it’s congratulations to Ken Nyhan and the whole U16 squad on a fantastic display today and they can now look forward to an All Ireland Final battle against Cork. -Nigel
