Dublin Senior Ladies Make It Three In A Row In Leinster

Dublin 6-21 Laois 0-04

Dublin made it three Leinster titles in a row today with an outstanding display full of pace, power, invention, interplay, quality passing and sniper like shooting to brush aside Laois in a one sided final today in Portlaoise.

Dublin dominated from the opening whistle and hit no fewer than five first half goals, expertly put away by Lyndsey Davey,Noelle Healey,Carla Rowe and two from Lyndsay Peat.

Around the middle of the pitch Molly Lamb,Denise Masterson and the excellent Niamh McEvoy had a stranglehold of the possession and provided the platform for the forwards to do what they do best.

The movement from Sinead Aherne who was excellent today from play and placed balls,Carla Rowe,Noelle Healey and Player of the Match Lyndsey Davey had the Laois back line at sixes and sevens and they looked like rabbits caught in the headlights.

By half-time if this had been a boxing match the towel would have been well and truly thrown in and if Laois thought at the break with Dublin so far ahead they would drop their performance levels they were sorely mistaken.

From the off in the second half Dublin hunted for the ball like a pack of hungry wolves and attacked the by now tormented and ragged Laois back line with remorseless verocity. Dublin went for the jugular and reeled off point after point in a master class display of score taking.

With Laois on their knees hoping for some respite,Dublin manager Gregory McGonigle turned to his star studded bench and called for the now injury free Captain Sinead Goldrick to make her entrance to the proceedings and what an entrance it was. In the forty second, forty sixth and fifty seventh minutes Sinead struck over three glorious points.

As the demoralized Laois players looked again to the sideline they watched in horror as Dublin introduced U21 All Ireland winning Captain Siobhan Woods,Olivia Leonard,Natalia Hyland and Niamh Rickard and the Laois players looked to the heavens wondering when this nightmare was going to end.

The Final nail in the Laois coffin was finally driven home appropriately by the outstanding Lyndsey Davey in the fifty ninth minute with a classy goal and finish and the coronation of the 2014 Leinster Champions could begin.

So Dublin can deservedly
enjoy the victory over the next couple days after an unbelievable Leinster campaign which has seen them score and incredible nineteen goals and fifty three points in just three outings and they can then get back down to business in preparation for their All Ireland Quarter final.-Nigel
