Leinster Minor Football Final Half-Time Report

Half-Time in the Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Football Campionship Final between Dublin and Kildare in Croke Park and Dublin lead at the break on a scoreline of:

Dublin 3-09 Kildare 1-08

Kildare started the brighter of a very entertaining first half and were ahead by four points to two after ten minutes with Dublin yet to settle into the game.

Then Dublin exploded into Final with a cracking goal from Con O’Callaghan expertly finished from a tight angle to the bottom corner of the net and from that point on Dublin dominated the half.

Kildare struggled badly from their kick outs with Dublin winning the majority of them and driving forward against an increasing ragged Kildare back line.

The pressure told and Dublin got their second goal of the game from the boot of Colm Basquel and this was followed by three exquisite points and Dublin were in the driving seat.

Another poor kickout was won by Dublin and a couple of passes later it ended up in the hands of Aaron Byrne who hit an absolute rocket to the back of the net which threw gasp of approval from the crowd on the hill.

Kildare did manage to score the last two points of the half but If Dublin come out with the same intensity in the second half there will be only one winner. -Nigel
