DIARMUID CONNOLLY AND DANNY SUTCLIFFE LAND TOP GONGS AT DUBLIN BUS/THE HERALD DUBS STARS AWARDS.

St Vincents star man Diarmud Connolly was named Footballer of the Year and Danny Sutcliffe Hurler of the Year at the Dublin Bus/The Herald Dubs Stars Awards at thew Radisson Blu Royal in Dublin today.

Connolly was the key figure in in Vincent’s march to a third All-Ireland title and a 27th Dublin crown.

His sensational goal in the All-Ireland final victory over Castlebar Mitchell’s was one of the scores of the year.

The fact that Danny Sutcliffe is named a the best club hurler in Dublin for the year despite playing for the runners-up in the county.

Sutcliffe almost inspired St Jude’s to their first ever senior crown but they were beaten in a titanic struggle by Kilmacud Crokes after extra time.

Both Dubs Stars teams were named in the Dublin GAA section of The Herald in recent weeks.

Vincent’s were responsible for nine members of the football team with seven hurlers from champions Kilmacud Crokes making the hurling XV (view the teams in full below).

As is tradition now, the Dubs Stars hurling and football team will both take on a Dublin selection on New Year’s Day with Ger Cunningham’s team in action at 12.30 and Jim Gavin’s footballers in action afterwards at Parnells in Coolock.
