The groups for next year’s O’Byrne and Walsh Cup competitions were drawn at last night’s Leinster Council meeting.

In football’s O’Byrne Cup, there will be four groups of four teams, including five as of yet confirmed third level college teams. The Walsh Cup consists of four groups of three, including NUIG, DIT and UCD.

In the Kehoe Cup – the draw for which has yet to be made – Louth, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Longford and Fingal – will be joined by two unconfirmed college teams.

The O’Byrne Cup will get underway on Sunday, January 4. However, the dates, venues and order of fixtures have still to be finalised by the Leinster CCC.

The O’Byrne Cup groups are: Dublin, Laois, Offaly, college team; Kildare, Louth, Carlow, college team; Meath, Westmeath, Longford, college team; Wexford, Wicklow, college team, college team.

The Walsh Cup groupings are: Kilkenny, Carlow, NUIG; Dublin, Antrim, DIT; Wexford, Laois, UCD; Galway, Westmeath, Offaly. (Hoganstand)
