Half-Time in the Liberty Insurance Premier Junior All Ireland Championship Semi-Final game between Dublin and Laois in Athy Co.Kildare and Laois lead at the break on a scoreline of:
Dublin 1-04 Laois 1-07
Laois have gone in at the break with a three point lead after a pulsating first thirty minutes in blustery conditions in Athy. Laois got off to a flyer when they found the back of the Dublin net after just twenty seconds.
Laois tagged on two more points to push their lead out to five before Dublin finally got their first score of the game provided by Siobhan Kehoe. Dublin were finding it difficult to get the ball to their inside forward line with Laois playing a sweeper just in front of their back line.
Dublin started to get a foothold in the game when they were dealt another blow with forward Emer Keenan going down with a knee injury. Niamh Adams came on in her place and started to get on to a lot of ball and Dublin with the aid of the strong running of Laoise Quinn,Ciara Burgess and the impressive Roisin Collins started to dominate possession and drive at Laois.
Dublin’s next couple of scores came from the pressure they were applying and it forced Laois into fouls and they were duly dispatched by Siobhan Kehoe and Michelle Kelly.
Then came the move of the game which started in the Dublin half and was worked up the pitch with a succession of quick accurate passing that ended up in the hands of Roisin Collins who buried it to the top corner of the Laois net. Laois got the final two scores of the half and it’s all to play for in the second thirty minutes. -Nigel
