Dublin’s Minor A Camogie Squad Manager Stephen Hoary Discusses Their Upcoming Leinster Campaign.

The Dublin Minor A camogie squad start the defence of their Leinster crown against Offaly this Sunday. It has been a mixed year for the squad so far who started the campaign with a well deserved win over an excellent Cork side, but were then cruelly eliminated at the quarter final stage of the All Ireland series on score difference, after the initial group stage required further play offs.

The squad were dealt a huge blow mid season when captain and midfield stalwart Doireann Mullaney fell foul to an ACL tear which has seen her ruled out until at least mid 2015.

However, that said, this group possesses some serious talent, Lucan’s Orla Beagan and Amy Conroy are two of the best forwards in the country , Hannah Hegarty and Niamh Byrne are rock solid in the spine of defence, but the real strength of this group, lies is in the spirit and attitude they bring to the pitch when they pull on their beloved blue and navy jerseys.

Tha management team of Stephen Hoary, Paul Beecher & Eimear Butler are looking forward to the challenge ahead, Stephen commented ‘ The timing of the Leinster campaign isn’t ideal, given that clubs are preparing for the upcoming adult championships in Dublin and many are away on holidays.

However the size of the panel and more importantly the quality within the squad means that their is fierce competition for places’. Stephen also added ‘

The Leinster championship is now in group format so we will have tough games against Offaly, Wexford and then Kilkenny, the top 2 then qualify for the Leinster Final, we are aiming for one of those 2 spots and ultimately defending our crown’

Their first group game takes place this Sunday in Birr with a 12.30 throw in. The starting 15 will be named after training on Friday
