Camogie Weekly Notes Monday 28th Of July
Under 16A –Tough luck on our under 16A team and management who lost 1-10 to 1-13 to Galway in a brilliant game in the All Ireland series on Saturday at Parnells GAA Club, Coolock. This ends their involvement in the All Ireland series for this year.
Under 16 B:
Best wishes to under 16B team and management in the All Ireland semi-final v Derry on Saturday 9 August.
Best wishes to our Premier Juniors who play Westmeath in O’Toole Park on Sunday in their final group game of the All Ireland series. Dublin may be involved in play-offs depending on results from Sunday’s fixtures.
Minor A and Minor B:
Best of luck to the Minor players and managements who will be in action on 17 August in the Leinster Minor Championship. Minor A v Offaly Away. Minor B v Louth at home.
We are Dublin Summer Cup and League 4/5: Erins Isle v Naomh Padraig (Summer Cup) takes place on Thursday 31 August in O’Toole Park at 7pm Play off (Leagues 4/5) continues on Thursday night. If Dublin are involved in play-offs arising from next Sunday’s Premier Junior county results the proposed league timetable may be effected.
Best wishes to Stephanie (Naomh Mearnog) in the National finals in the Cooley Mountains on the Bank holiday weekend.
Under 15/16 Summer Gala Blitz: This non-competitive Summer Gala Blitz took place in the Phoenix Park as the culmination of 4 weeks of games where the emphasis was on participation and enjoyment. Well-done to 13 participating teams and to Paddy Baker (Good Counsel) for driving this very worthwhile effort. It is hoped to grow this event next year.
Under 13 Development Squad:
The remaining sessions for this School of Excellence have been scheduled as follows: Friday August 15; Friday August 22; Friday August 29. All sessions will take place in the Camogie Grounds Phoenix Park with a 7pm start. If for any reason these arrangements have to be changed a notice will be posted on this website. Reminder to clubs to vote for the Camogie County Player of the Decade. The County Board is organising the Dublin County Player of the Decade Award (2005 – 2014) as part of the 110th year celebrations of the Camogie Association. The County Player of the Decade refers to playing seasons in the period 2005-2014 inclusive. Criteria for County Player of the Decade: Role model/sportsmanship (club/county) 30%; Playing excellence at county level 30%; Longevity of playing career (club/county) 20%; Dedication/commitment to county 20%. Only one nomination will be accepted from each club – a club cannot nominate one of its own players. Names must be returned to An Rúnaí no later than Friday 1 August.
Dublin Camogie team of the Decade: In conjunction with honouring the Camogie Dublin Player of the Decade the Dublin County Board has appointed a subcommittee to nominate a Camogie County Team of the Decade (2005-2015). More news about this later.
Blitz for Leinster clubs:
Leinster Council are holding an under 12 Camogie Blitz on Saturday 16th August in O’Connor Park, Tullamore to celebrate 110 years of Camogie. Closing date for registration is Friday, 1st August at 5pm. Participants will be entered into draw to play in Croke Park on October.
